On this Super Bowl Sunday, before the wings and prop bets, we joined the board of Advocates of Love as they held their annual, in-person meeting to set the direction for the calendar year.

It’s with great enthusiasm and a sense of blessed humility that I am able to announce Lee and I have been officially commissioned as the missionaries to run the children’s home in SamanĂ¡. Although we’ve been operating with the confidence of God’s direction for us, it is rewarding – and a bit relieving – to have this opportunity made formal and official.

We look forward to the opportunity to move to the Dominican Republic and build on the work Advocates of Love have been doing there these last four years. Besides, who can resist a vocation that pays in smiles?

  1. So happy and proud of you and Lee! Awesome news! You will both be in my prayers each day along with the children under your loving care! You are not even there yet and you already have a beautiful testimony to share about how you got to today! Will you be able to blog from there so we can keep up with the great work you and Lee are doing and see the smiles on ” your children’s” , God’s children, faces. Love you both! You and Lee are a wonderful blessing in my life!

    1. Thank you so much for the kind and supportive words, Rick. Lee and I feel extraordinarily blessed to pursue this new opportunity in our lives. And yes, we will have Internet connectivity from the D.R. My goal is to continue to blog every day on my personal blog as well as on the blog of the Advocates of Love page. We look forward to being able to share our story with everyone.

  2. Congratulations, Gil and Lee. The Lord has had his hand on you since you took your first steps on this journey. It will be a joy to follow your new posts once you’re settled in. I will be praying for you, for your children, and for the children you’re now inheriting. May God’s hand always be upon your work and your lives and may they always be filled with peace and assurance.

    1. Thank you so much, Cheryl. Please know Lee and I received so much guidance and support during our involvement with BCW, and the memories of those meetings and events help make up the foundation upon which we build this next endeavor in our lives. We, too, look forward to keeping everyone abreast of this new adventure.

  3. Lee and Gil, we are extremely over joyed to see how the Lord has worked through both of you to bring Him to all the children at the orphanage. We will continue to pray for the work you and Advocates of Love are doing in the DR. Thank you for being examples to all of us here of the need to give of ones self to the betterment of others. May God continue to bless you both.
