We find it normal to hold on to grudges. When we are wronged, it is instinctive to want to retaliate and get even. Anger is a weight that pulls us down into the water, not allowing us to breathe freely. When we hold on to the pain or resentment or the idea of retribution, we are no longer able to live out of love. It is through forgiveness, the releasing of anger, that we’re able to truly live as Christ intended.
“And don’t sin by letting anger control you. Don’t let the sun go down while you are still angry, for anger gives a foothold to the devil.” – Ephesians 4:26-27 NLT
