Today is a day of memorials. We take a moment to remember our family and friends who were victims of the attacks of September 11, 2001. We take a moment to re-live the anguish and remember the loss of so many innocent lives.
We also take a moment to honor and salute the many heroes that fell that infamous day: police officers, firefighters, first responders. We also honor the service women and men who were propelled into war as a result of September 11th, and we remember those who have lost their lives in the twelve years since, fighting to protect our freedoms and sacrificing for our common good.
With that in mind, and as we stare at the possibility of a new military conflict with Syria, I’d like to share a post I wrote a couple of years ago for Random Writers. The prompt for the post was, “Using a military theme (in honor of Veterans Day), what is one change you wish to see in the world?” Here is my personal salute to our men and women in uniform.
