040/365 Sports Dad

Today was a little on the crazy side. Lee and I both attended what we THOUGHT was a day-long training session for Microsoft SharePoint. It actually turned out to be a day-long sales pitch for tools to use with Microsoft SharePoint.

We couldn’t get out of there fast enough, mostly because we were bored to tears, but primarily because we need to high-tail it to Dade City for my daughter’s middle school team’s soccer game. The location of the sales pitch training was near the airport, and for those of you not familiar with the Tampa Bay area, that means we had to travel 45 miles in afternoon traffic (and of course I had to stop for gas!).

We did get to the game with some time to spare, but immediately following the match we had to high-tail it back home (26 miles) as I needed to get on a conference call and participate in the draft of my son’s recreational basketball team. As the coach of his team, I get to pick the other players based on the results of their evaluations. It turned out to be a fun process and I was able to get most of the kids that were on his rec team last season (although I did miss out on a couple of other kids I wanted to get).

Still, such is the life of a sports dad, and it’s only going to get more hectic from here.
